Salla Mehtälä

The Finnish Museum of Natural History LUOMUS has more than 13 million animal, plant, fungal, mineral and fossil specimens in its collections, which constitute the national collections in the natural sciences. Some of the specimens are on display at the Museum, but where are the rest?
Approximately 99.9% of the specimens are hidden in the basements and examined by researchers.

This year is the 340th anniversary of the national collections. To celebrate the occasion, there will be a series of photo exhibitions to present bits and pieces from the archives. Beetles are in the spotlight first. The exhibition is at the Natural History Museum café from 5th April to 31st May, 2018.

The café is open on Tues, Wed and Fri from 10 am to 4 pm, on Thurs from 10 am to 6 pm, Sat from 11 am to 5 pm and on Sun from 11 am to 4 pm.

Free entrance. Welcome!
