Retkeilykasvio (Field Flora of Finland)
Hämet-Ahti, L., Suominen, J., Ulvinen, T. & Uotila,
P. (eds.) 1998: Retkeilykasvio (Field Flora of Finland), Ed. 4. 656
pp. Finnish Museum of Natural History, Botanical Museum. Helsinki.
Retkeilykasvio, Field Flora of Finland, includes all vascular plant
species and subspecies, and most important varieties and hybrids,
native or clearly established aliens in Finland, as well as casual
immigrants and cultivation escapes which have been found at least
several times. However, only selected species are treated in the apomictic
groups of Hieracium, Pilosella, Ranunculus and
Taraxacum.
Scientific names are followed by the Finnish name and the Swedish
name. The morphological description, especially as to measurements,
is mainly based on Finnish plants, and its sequence is as follows:
height, stem, leaves, inflorescence, flowers, fruits. Illustrations
have been made of Finnish specimens. Chromosome numbers are included,
those counted on Finnish material with bold characters. Flowering
months are given with Roman numerals. These, as well as ecological
data, are based on the Finnish situation. Some taxonomical notes and
possible protection by law are given. At the end of the description,
edible plants have been marked with an asterisk (*), poisonous plants
with a cross (†) and very poisonous plants with two crosses
(††).

is given with maps. The maps are based on data from herbarium specimens,
