Call for papers and submission guidelines

We encourage all participants to submit full length papers

It is planned to publish keynote and selected papers as a special issue of Biodiversity and Conservation. It is an international high profile peer-reviewed journal that publishes papers on all aspects of biodiversity. The scope is multidisciplinary. Research papers as well as comments and contributions dealing with practical aspects of conservation are welcome.

NOTE! Please submit via e-mail to eurogardv@luomus.fi. The papers will be processed via the congress secretariat.

Please follow carefully the instructions for the authors for modifying the paper.

The recommended maximum length for the papers is 10 pages when printed, i.e. approximately 25 pages with Times New Roman 12 pts and double spacing, or approximately 5000 words with a few tables and figures.

Full paper submission deadline is 31st July 2009.

 

The scientific committee of the congress will consider high quality papers for oral and poster presentations based on submitted abstracts. The following types of papers are welcome:

The questions indicated under the five themes of the congress give an idea of the topics of contributions that may be submitted, but we are open to more ideas when they are relevant to the congress themes. Please indicate under which theme you think your contribution should go. The scientific committee, however, reserves the right to reconsider the placement as well as suggest a different format of presentation.

The congress language is English.

Oral presentations

The time slot for the oral presentations is 20 minutes, including a minimum of 5 minutes for discussion. Short statements (5 minutes oral presentations) or poster contributions may be submitted for Theme 5. The chairperson will be strict about the length of the presentations, so please make sure your talk does not exceed the time allocated for you. Please provide your presentation at enrolment, or first thing in the morning of the due date to the congress staff.

Posters

The posters may be installed in the evening of Sunday the 7 th, or in the morning of Monday the 8 th. The posters will be on display throughout the congress, and there will be a poster session where authors are expected to present their work.

The space for a poster is 95 cm wide and 115 cm high. The background material is grey soft board, and the posters can be attached by pins.

 

Important Dates

1st September 2008 registration starts.

1st September 2008 abstract submission for poster and oral presentations starts.

15th December 2008 is the deadline for abstract submission.

By 2nd February 2009 final decision of presentation acceptance by the scientific committee. (date postponed one week)

15th February 2009 is the deadline for early bird payment.

8th April 2009 is the final date for refund in case of cancellation.

10th May 2009 is the deadline for late bird payment.

8th - 12th June 2009: the congress.

31st July 2009 is the full paper submission deadline.
