Notes on Cardamine pratensis

Cardamine pratensis L., morph (Finland, Lohja, Kokkila, 1987). Image: Harri Harmaja (scanned from dried specimen). This plant belongs within the very variable C. pratensis s. lato (Brassicaceae). It is remarkable (i) as having small leaves, (ii) as possessing rosette leaves that are fairly similar in size and leaflet shape to most cauline leaves, and (iii) as growing in a rather dry meadow on calcareous ground. The plant is glabrous (excepting the youngest rosette leaf, not illustrated). The petals are whitish, with a faint lilac tinge. Another stand of this morph was observed in a similar habitat quite near-by (in Siuntio, Kokkila).
