Polypodium vulgare L., morph (Finland, Lohja, Torhola, 2003). – Image: Harri Harmaja (scanned from dried specimen). – This plant, found in a crevice of eutrophic rock (close to limestone outcrop), is deviating as to the shapes of the lamina, pinnae and young sori; moreover, the lowest pinnae tend to be lobed. In Finland, P. vulgare (Polypodiaceae) is much more variable than what can be judged from the presentations in the flora works. The species as currently conceived in Europe may actually consist of a few cryptic species.
