Pyrola rotundifolia L., forma (Pyrolaceae) (Finland, Lammi, Halila, 1993). – Image: Harri Harmaja (scanned from dried specimen). – This plant differs from typical P. rotundifolia in that the leaves are more or less reniform, a few tending to be weakly cordate. The North American P. asarifolia Michaux has rather similar leaves, as does the East Asian P. renifolia Maxim. The present morph that seems to lack a valid name is very infrequent, having been reported at least from Central Europe. I have found it a few times in southern Finland. The stand illustrated had one withered flowering stem but the other occurrences were sterile.
