Notes on Ranunculus acris

A few plants that were found in southern Finland (Lohja, Kokkila, 1985) by a spring-brook on calcareous soil, are reminiscent of the pronouncedly northern R. acris L. var. pumilus Wahlenb. (Ranunculaceae). It is noteworthy that typical R. acris was growing in the same place. Listera ovata was abundant in the area, and the moss Cratoneuron filicinum occurs near-by. However, as R. acris var. pumilus has a pronouncedly northern distribution, the true identity of the present morph remains unsolved.
